Business Development Analyst

Reports To: VP Business Development
Supervises: N/A
Salary: TBD
 

Position Summary
Business Development Analysts are the nexus between HelioSage’s Business Development Team and our prospective clients.  They play a major role in the business development process, from identifying new opportunities to facilitating momentum towards a signed agreement for solar energy.  As an integral team member, the Analyst will gain experience and expertise in Project Development on both strategy and operations, while serving a vital role both internally and externally as a liaison, information resource, and key point of contact.  This position has a clear career path to Project Developer and Senior Project Developer.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities 
  • Scheduling & Coordinating (60%)
  • Market Analysis & Contract Management (30%)
  • Ad Hoc Projects (10%)

Including but not limited to:

  • Targeting prospective clients through background market research and direct contact
  • Cultivating prospective clients through telephone networking and campaigns
  • Assisting Project Developers with relationship-building efforts
  • Effectively conveying to contacts HelioSage’s value proposition
  • Helping prepare proposals, letters of agreement, marketing pieces, and other documents critical to the development process
  • Scheduling appointments with prospective clients
  • Coordinating travel and itineraries on an as-needed basic
  • Preparing team members for visits with background institution and market research, as well as any necessary documents or other materials
  • Preparing follow-up materials after introductory meetings
  • Being “on-call” during out-of-town meetings as an internal contact
  • Participating in finalizing contracts and closing prospects
  • Monitoring industry trends, regional issues and site-specific issues in order to tailor marketing efforts
  • Assisting team with tracking key performance metrics
  • Assisting the leadership team with collateral creation on an as-needed basis
  • Special projects as necessary and appropriate

Qualifications/Skills Required

Education:  Bachelors Degree

Experience:  1-2 years of work experience and/or strong academic record

  • Must possess at least two of the following:
    • Leadership experience
    • Customer service experience
    • Experience working in a team environment
    • Sales or fundraising experience
    • Experience in an office setting
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Quick wit and affable demeanor
  • High comfort level on the telephone

Engineering Intern

Reports To: Project Engineering Manager
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Function: Engineering

Position Summary
HelioSage intends to hire a 3rd (rising 4th year) or graduating 4th year engineering student who is interested in renewable energy as an intern for the summer of 2012.  The selected engineering intern will work with our Project Development Team and Operations Team to design and build commercial scale, distributed generation solar arrays. Intern responsibilities will include assisting in site analysis, pre-engineering, and project management.

HelioSage will provide training to the selected intern with respects to developing commercial scale, distributed generation solar arrays.

Essential Functions:
Site Analysis (75%)

  • Work from the office qualifying sites using software tools and online databases.
  • On-site analysis of rooftops and ground mount sites.
  • Help prepare and present proposals to clients.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of construction drawings and site diagrams.
  • Assist in system design for commercial projects.
  • Liaise with structural engineering firms to obtain structural affidavits.

Project Engineering & Management (25%)

  • Provide design and contract support for onsite foremen during the installation process.
  • Inspect installations and ensure engineering is second to none.
  • Ensure that all applicable codes, standards, and good construction practices are followed.

Additional Job Standards or Requirements:

Education: 3rd (rising 4th year) or graduating 4th Year pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical)

Interests: Applicants should have an interest in renewable energy, project development, project management and construction. A strong interest in entrepreneurship is also a plus.
